The idea for this trip came about two days after our actual wedding. Initially we were planning to go to Egypt and Jordan (which are still very much on our list, however) our wedding was October 7th 2023 which was the day of the first attack in Gaza. At the time we didn’t know what was going to happen in the region and decided to quickly change our plans and go to a very similar destination.😂
With the help of some friends who have been there and the wool and waterproof clothing layers we were already required to have for work we were able to plan and leave for this trip within about two weeks.
This place is unreal. It’s another planet every day we were blown away by something we have never seen before. We rented a camper van and took off on a loop around the whole country. We hiked on a glacier and into a naturally formed ice cave, befriended a seal in the glacier lagoon, heard Norse stories from our quirky tour guide, dipped in tons of geothermal hot springs, wandered in volcanic ruins, and smelled all the eggy steam, we saw the northern lights about 4 nights starting in the north, we bought incredible wool sweaters from sweet older women, we ate the hot dogs, we went whale watching and saw 8 different humpbacks one even came within a few feet of our boat!
We honeymooned in a van a few miles south of the arctic circle and had an incredible time.
Hope you enjoy the photos!
